Need Help with Your 'Help Wanted'?: 4 Tips to Get Recruitment Marketing Right

Here are a few tips that have worked for our network to sell your hottest commodity - employment opportunities

From manufacturing to tech and beyond, we're hearing the same refrain: we need good people and we can't find them. As unemployment drops to pre-Pandemic levels, it seems harder than ever to get qualified applicants in the door, especially for skilled, long-term positions.

Here are a few tips that have worked for our network to sell your hottest commodity - employment opportunities:

  1. Embrace and explain your brand: anyone can have a job opening, but why should someone want to work with you? It's a job-seekers market right now and people can afford to be choosy. An employer with strong, positive company culture, defined mission and vision, and demonstrated opportunities for training and growth will beat out just a "job" any day. Define those elements for your company & make them clear wherever you talk to potential hires.
  2. Make it personal: can someone see what it would be like to work with your company? Find ways to let prospects put themselves into the shoes of an existing employee. Cultivate employee testimonials, let them explore a virtual tour of your office, or take some candid videos of your current team answering prompts on what it's like to work with you. Have fun and be honest! You may get some of your best quotes from unplanned answers.
  3. Remove friction from the process: applying for jobs can be a pain - tons of application questions, cover letters, uploads, downloads, over and over again. Find what information you really need to know and make it simple to attain. Digital applications connected directly to your CRM make it easy for you and applicants. You're likely to get more applications in the door and have a simpler time managing them throughout the interview and hiring process.
  4. Spread the word: are you primed for potential employees to find you? You can build the perfect environment with branding, recruitment marketing collateral and a simple process, but if no one sees it, you may not get any applications in the door despite your best efforts. Take all of that hard work and get the word out! Post on your social media profiles, make your open positions public on the major job sites as well as local listings, and even explore outbound options like Google search ads or billboards.
